Signing up for your first clinical trial can feel like stepping into the unknown. This walkthrough covers every stage of the process for NuLine’s dermatology studies, from your first phone call through your final visit.
Step 1: The Pre-Screening Call (5 to 15 minutes)
Your first contact with NuLine is typically by phone (754-331-5331) or by submitting our online form. A member of our team will ask a series of brief questions based on the study’s eligibility criteria, your age, diagnosis, current medications, and general health history.
If you pass the pre-screening, you will be invited for a free in-person screening visit.
Step 2: Screening Visit (1 to 3 hours)
At the screening visit: – The research coordinator reviews the full informed consent document with you – A physician examines your skin and scores it (EASI for eczema, PASI for psoriasis, IGA for acne) – Blood is drawn for safety lab tests – Vital signs are taken – Your medical and medication history is reviewed
You take the consent form home to review and may sign it at this visit or a subsequent one. You are never pressured.
Step 3: Eligibility Confirmation (1 to 2 weeks after screening)
The team reviews your lab results and confirms your eligibility. You will receive a call with the outcome.
Step 4: Baseline Visit and Treatment Start
If you are eligible, your next visit is your baseline, the official start of the study. Baseline measurements are taken, and if your study includes a treatment, it typically begins at this visit.
Step 5: Follow-Up Visits
You will attend scheduled visits at intervals specified by the protocol (every 4 weeks is common). Each visit includes safety assessments, disease severity scoring, and sometimes lab work.
Step 6: End of Study
At your final study visit, the team takes final measurements and confirms completion. Your compensation for the final visit is processed, and you receive information about what happens next.
